Photos From 2012

Image

So while it’s been a long time since I blogged on my regular blog (shaminachristian.wordpress.com), it’s been even longer (over a year!) since I posted any new photos of my travels and every day life happenings here. So enjoy a few of the photos I’ve chosen from 2012. Just to update you – I’m now living in North Carolina, and I also had the amazing opportunity to travel to Kenya (for a work conference) and Uganda (to visit a friend) during the past year. Enjoy!

Dear Photography Enthusiast,

After letting this blog lie dormant for more than a month, I decided that it was time to provide you with some additional photographs for your viewing delight.

Below I have included photos of: 1) a boy in Sikkim, India, filling up his water pot, 2) Elephant Island near Mumbai, India, and 3) a man carrying mangoes on the streets of Kolkata.

Innocence Enough

This photo is one of my personal favorites. If I had to make a choice and choose to take pictures in only black and white or only in color, I think I would choose black and white. While I love VIBRANT colors, there’s just something about a black and white photograph that keeps your imagination guessing. Your imagination keeps trying to fill in colors and paint a picture when it’s in black and white!

What do you prefer – black and white or color?

P.S. – I think these young boys are better at skipping rocks than I am. Check out the boy in the middle – what a radical spin move!

The photograph below is probably my second favorite. I seem to have a fascination with taking pictures of doors. This was originally a color shot, but I decided that I liked it better as a b&w.

Dear Faithful Reader and Fellow Photography Lover,

I am back with a new blog! While I loved writing and sharing my incredible adventures in India with you, I am no longer in India (are you surprised?). But, I decided that I still really do love to blog, so I decided that I would showcase my creative side and write a photoblog instead! Sooo, this blog will consist of mostly pictures, but I’ll ask for your input and your opinions on what I post. I’ll occasionally put up a poll, asking you about the photos I post, and I may ask you to use your deductive reasonsing skills to figure out where I took the photo!

I’m excited to get started! Have fun and thanks for being my Faithful Reader once again!
